Muskegon Catholic Central tops Tri-unity Christian in girls basketball

Muskegon Catholic Central beat Tri-unity Christian 65-28. The Crusaders had a 34-7 lead at halftime. They were led by Maggie Farrell with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Kim Eisenbarth had 13 points, and Katherine Salisz dished out nine assists and Liz DeYoung scored nine.

Adam Rhodes makes transition into head coach position

Adam Rhodes replaced John Kramer, who resigned last March after 16 seasons as coach, as Calvin Christian’s girls basketball head coach. Kramer’s teams went 264-111 with eight conference titles, eight district championships and four regional crowns.

Orchard View girls basketball beats West Michigan Christian

Orchard View girls basketball team topped West Michigan Christian 49-47. Orchard View’s Tiera Hill had a buzzer beater shot. Yonique McClure led Orchard View with 19 points, Hill scored 14 and Summer Eddy finished with 10 rebounds.

Caledonia girls basketball beats Allendale 61-6

The Caledonia girls basketball team topped Allendale 61-6. Caledonia jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first 90 seconds and led 27-2 at the end of the first quarter. They extended their lead to 39-4 at the half and played with a running clock with a 40-point lead 75 seconds into the second half.

East Grand Rapids tops Grandville in girls basketball

East Grand Rapids topped Grandville 48-39 in girls basketball. Ra’Shawn Calvert was on of three players East Grand Rapids’ players to earn double figures. Calvert lead her team with 14 points.

Grandville’s Lizzie Otten scored a game-high 19 points.

Hamilton tops Holland in girls basketball

The Hamilton beats Holland 79-28 in girls basketball. Hamilton’s Ashley Overbeek scored 20 points, while Jenna Schra and Nicole VanZee also had 12 points each.

Ashley Silva led Holland with eight points.

Forest Hills Central girls open with big win over Rockford

In the first game of the young season, the Forest Hills Central Rangers overcame a talented Rockford basketball team to walk away with a 44-31 home victory. Get the full story from FHCRangers.com.

Janelle Bauchan paced the Rangers with 12 points, while teammates Christina Bowman and Jillian Hendrickson each scored 10. For the Rams, Kimberly Weston lead the way with 13 points.

So far so good for the Rangers. With a significant opening victory over Rockford, Forest Hills Central opens their season on a very positive note.

Byron Center girls basketball starts season with a win

Coming off last season with a 17-6 record, Byron Center opened this season with a win. The Byron Center girls basketball team beat South Christian 49-26. This years team is made up of eight seniors.
