Our very own Rusty Younkers braved the cold to capture some hot action on the court, as the Sparta Spartans looked to keep their OK Blue title hopes alive, hosting the Belding Redskins. Here’s a recap of the action, provided by Rusty:
In spite of the snow, the Sparta/Belding game was well attended by faithful fans. The fans were able to watch an incredible match-up. Most of the first half the two teams were within a point or two of each other, they traded blows like evenly matched gladiators in the arena. The play was fast and intense. With just over a minute left in the first half, Sparta was able to edge ahead of Belding, ending the half with a six point lead. The second half found the two teams still with plenty of steam for the battle, but Belding just could not find the magic to make up for the lead that Sparta won at the end of the first half. They were once again trading basket for basket, and by the end of the game Sparta was able to add four more points to their lead to finish the game 56 to 46.
