Best of the West Week 8.

With conference races taking shape all over West Michigan we are nearing the final chase for OK supremacy. Let us know what you think about or rankings of the top teams in WM and don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook and then suggest us to your friends because we are giving away a huge prize pack when we reach 2,300 likes!!

1.) Godwin Heights (11-0)

The Fighting Wolverines continue to charge ahead and are looking for some competition in the schedule. Kevin Badger leads the group but the role players all do their job well and this team is looking great moving ahead.

2.) Greenville (12-0)

Greenville may be the hottest team in the area right now and if they played Godwin heights we would have an epic match-up but as of right now I think the Jackets remain at #2 but it is very close.

3.) Tri Unity Christian (11-0)

Tri Unity appears to be begging for a challenge of late and will get it on the 11th with Godwin Heights.

4.) Rockford (9-3)

After Tuesday night it was becoming clear that Rockford was making a statement and was ready to move up in our rankings as well as in the OK Red race. Then they drop a 5 point home loss to West Ottawa and open up more questions of this team. The OK Red is deep as always and bad losses happen but they shouldn’t when it’s time to separate yourself from the pack.

5.) Shelby (10-0)

The Tigers grabbed another win against Hart this week and appear to be cruising into a West Michigan Conference title, they hold a two game advantage over both North Muskegon and Montague.

6.) Muskegon Heights (8-3)

A narrow loss to Saginaw Arthur Hill was the Tigers game to take and they didn’t get it done. The loss does peak to the skill of this team however and they will be a force to be reckoned with come March.

7.) Zeeland East (11-1)

Not only did a two point road loss to Unity Christian end the perfect run of the Chix, it opened the conference race as well as Holland Christian now sits tied atop the OK Green.

8.) Hudsonville (9-3)

Hudsy started slow and looked inconsistent at times but now appears to have won some gritty games and thanks to that West Ottawa shocker, the Eagles will have an opportunity to grab OK Red supremacy on Friday at Rockford.

9.) Ottawa Hills (9-3)

Hills had a great week coming back and nabbed two wins in league play. The Bengals can seal things up with another good week and a rematch with Caledonia on the 7th.

10.) East Kentwood (10-2)

EK split last week losing at Rockford but taking down an underachieving Muskegon team. Their game rematch with Rockford will be vital for the Falcons if they want to repeat as OK Red Champs.

Honorable Mentions (in no order)

Caledonia (9-3)

Caledonia will have their shot at home against Ottawa Hills but I was at the first match-up and I really don’t think much has changed.

Grand Rapids Christian (9-3)

I see Christian rather interchangeable with EK right now at #10. This week should help the Eagles cause.

North Muskegon (7-4)

Although Spencer Krannitz has moved into the state scoring lead, his Norseman have fallen back to Shelby and appear to be in a race for second with Montague in the WMC.

Sparta (9-2)

The Spartans knocked Comstock Park from their perch atop the OK Blue and look to be serious contenders moving forward.

We hope to see you out at a game and will keep you posted on where we will be. Don’t forget that we will update you every Monday on the new WMA rankings. Again feel free to discuss below!
