The Northview Wildcats, led by senior Darren Kapustka, rode strong play in the second and fourth quarters of action to easily defeat the Zeeland West Dux by a final tally of 57-43. The Dux outscored the Wildcats in both of the ‘odd’ quarters, but Northview had a dominating 20 point differential (36-16) in the ‘even’ quarters, allowing the Wildcats to put in a fresh shift of backups late in the game, en-route to their comfortable victory.
Darren Kapustka was one of three Wildcats to score in double digits, with 22 points. Kapustka also drained six buckets from three-point range. Darius Calvert had 17 points in Northview’s victory, and Kevin Rich chipped in 10.
The Dux were led by Zach Dreyer, who scored 21 in the losing effort. Dreyer was also the only Zeeland West player to make a free throw, gong 4-7 from the charity stripe (team was 4-9). Gabe Hernandez and Jared Ensing each had 8 points for Zeeland West.
Northview improves its record to 3-2 this year. They will have their first OK White conference game on January 6 as they travel to Grand Rapids Christian. Zeeland West falls to 2-3 on the season. Their next action will come on January 3, when they host OK Green conference-foe Wyoming Park.
