1.) Grand Rapids Christian (11-0)
Christian rolled by nine at East Grand Rapids and as we said last week baring a loss of giant proportions; the Eagles will stay at #1 for awhile.
2.) Grand Rapids Union (8-3)
Tuesday was a night to forget for the re hawks as they suffered a 30 point loss to Muskegon heights on the road. Union did just that by moving on against Holland on Friday with 1st place in the OK Black on the line. A 17 point victory at home was just the remedy for a forgettable game on Tuesday.
3.) Grand Rapids Catholic Central (10-1)
We talked about CC having an opportunity to move forward in the Gold and they did just that. South Christian was no match for the Cougars on Friday and Forest Hills Eastern couldn’t hang with CC on Tuesday either.
4.) East Kentwood (10-2)
A crushing defeat of Jenison early in the week was followed by an awesome Game of the Night against Rockford in which the Falcons let slip away in Overtime. Still atop the OK Red with Muskegon’s loss to Jenison, Red supremacy will be up for grabs on Tuesday as the Big Reds travel to EK.
5.) Muskegon (9-2)
Muskegon survived a scare at Rockford on Tuesday and needed a 25-17 4th quarter to even send their game with Jenison to overtime, The Big Reds were outscored by 5 in the second OT and lost a chance to have a share of the OK Red lead with a mega match-up with East Kentwood on Tuesday.
6.) Rockford (8-5)
A pair of 1 point games last week had Rockford fans on the edge of their seats. A split in those games for the Rams has shown just how tough this team is as they battle to stay alive for the OK Red crown.
7.) Wayland (10-2)
The Wildcats took down South Christian on Tuesday by one and then slipped by Hastings 54-50 on Friday. Next Friday Catholic Central will travel to Wayland and it could be the OK Gold conference championship of sorts.
8.) Comstock Park (10-1)
The Panthers got back on track this week as they took down Cedar Springs on Tuesday. With a week to prepare for Sparta (which looks like they spent voting for that game to be WMA’s Game of the Night) Comstock Park will be ready to host this enormous OK Blue bout.
9.) Godwin Heights (10-1)
The Wolverines continue to roll in the OK Silver and sit one game ahead of Wyoming Kellogsville. Heights’ lone loss was in OT against Comstock Park.
10.) Montague (10-0)
The Wildcats are dismantling teams and have Shelby coming to town on Friday for West Michigan Conference supremacy.
Honorable Mentions (in no order)
South Christian (8-3)
Going 0-2 in a week is always bad but to go 0-2 against the two teams you’re battling atop your Conference is disastrous. A 1 point loss to Wayland on Tuesday and 14 point loss at Catholic Central on Friday and the Sailors had a nightmare of a week in the OK Gold.
Holland (7-4)
A brutal defeat to Grand Rapids Union set the Dutch back but they still have a chance to host the red Hawks later this year.
Muskegon Heights (8-4)
A 30 point win over Grand Rapids Union shows just how good this team can be.
Tri Unity Christian (10-1)
The Defenders continue to roll in league play.
We hope to see you out at a game and will keep you posted on where we will be. Don’t forget that we will update you every Monday on the new WMA rankings. Again feel free to discuss below!
