‘Bama loses to South Carolina, Ohio State moves up to number one, Oregon leap frogs to the number two spot and poor little Boise State stays at three. With their puny schedule and eye sore of a field (I remember watching a Boise game on those old tube TVs for the first time and banging it ’cause I thought the green tube went out), I’d never move Boise higher than three. Sorry Broncos, I’m just not keen on gimmicky offenses, and neither is the USA Today.
But after my latest top ten rankings, I can’t stop thinking about number three Zeeland East. Are both East Grand Rapids and Lowell better than the Chix? What if we blurred the playoff division lines and pitted Zeeland East against Lowell in the inaugural West Michigan Tulip Bowl? That’s a guaranteed great game in the trenches.
Lets make it even more fun. We scrap the BCS style and go with a playoff -at least a two round playoff.
First, Zeeland East heads down the street to West Ottawa and dominates the line of scrimmage. Not a big yardage game on the ground or air, but the hits would be phenomenal. Chix win.
A little more north, Lowell’s offensive line keeps Damon Knox away from the play just long enough for Gabe Dean to connect with Matt Houston a couple times in their win.
But who wins the Tulip Bowl? I say Zeeland East, but what do you, the fan, say?
