Shout out: Which struggling team won't be

For the first ever edition of West Michigan Allstar’s “Shout Out” column, in which the readers of WMA sound off on an important issue in West Michigan high school athletics, we have an interesting question for basketball fans.  Which of the following two teams has the best shot of turning a 1-5 streak around?

What do you think?  If there’s a “why” to your reasoning, post it in the comments.

Which Defender had the best Week 7?

  • Jeff Vroon, Holland Christian, caused fumble on Hamilton's final drive to secure 14-13 upset win (47%, 35 Votes)
  • Trent Voss, 14 tackles, a fumble forced and an interception (45%, 33 Votes)
  • Josiah Brown, Zeeland East, 5 tackles and returned an INT 40 yards for a TD (8%, 6 Votes)

Total Voters: 74

Musky Heights seems to have too much skill to continue struggling. Even thought free throws have cost them a few games against elite competition, they have a chance to just “out-talent” a lot of teams in the state. If they knock down a few free throws, they can really do some damage in the tourney.

IMO, I just don’t think losses to 3 of the top 5 teams in the entire state is struggling….think about it, if you play 3 of the top 5 class A teams, the class B tournament could not be tougher than what they’ve already played.

So, MH was not struggling, just scheduled the toughest compettion in the state and lost!

Ottawa Hills beat Heights fair and square, but I wonder if MH was mentally drained from having to get up so many times in a short period of time!
