West Michigan Allstar Top-10 Teams: Basketball Week-1

Basketball LogoWe here at West Michigan Allstar have done the dirty work, combing the far reaches of the Internet for nuggets of pertinent basketball info until our beards grew dark and the coffee was gone, all to rank the Top-10 basketball teams in West Michigan.  You’ll find the results below.

Along with a team’s record, these rankings take into account quality of wins, talent, synergy,  and a handful of more subjective factors, and may be correctly interpreted as an authoritative list of the top basketball teams in West Michigan.

Yeah, ranking teams is a tough business.  But somebody’s got to do it.

  4. Zeeland West

I dont think Zwest should be up that high I dont think Montague should be up so high neither and ill have to put Ottawa on there in the 10 spot just by what they did last year against the top teams. Also upsetting Wayland last year and almost winning the district with a lot of there scoring coming back with Ivy and Grant I think they deserve to be in the top 10.

    Mines would like this:

    1. Kzoo Central
    2. EGR
    3. Rockford
    4. Muskegon Heights
    5. Grand Haven
    6. Wayland
    7. Benton Harbor
    8. Zwest
    9. Ottawa Hills
    10. Montague

Dont get me wrong Zwest will be a good team and make a deep run, but I just think they were to high right now

Well, you say tomato I say tomahto (I don’t really say that; I’m just saying). I can see Ottawa Hills thrown in there, and I thought about them at #10, but with WMC’s returning awesomeness I was forced to put them on the list over OH despite their Class-C standing.

And watch out for Zeeland West. Semple is legit and Tiemeyer is finally coming into his own.

Yeah trust me I saw Zwest at GVSU and they are long and they can play and that kid yesterday havent heard much about him, but he lead them in scoring yesterday they will be a good team on the rise up.

Wow, pretty arrogant to think that the list you have compiled is the be all and end all. Wonder what basketball playing and coaching experience you have to make your list full of such knowledge and analysis.

    • howie7

      exactly my thoughts………..

Just a goof, guys. LOL! It’s authoritatively my opinion. What do you think?

        • howie7

Since you put it like that, pretty reasonable selections I would think

  • Bob

What no Muskegon? Always a top ten team in West Michigan in the pre season.

  • Mur

I’m really happy for the respect that people are giving Wayland… but just like every other school, graduation always takes its toll. I’m hoping Wayland can justify a top ten ranking, but they do have a lot of varsity newcomers that surround a senior core. Good luck ‘Cats!

I haven’t seen a lot of these teams play but I’m fairly confident that WM Christian will beat both Montague and Muskegon Heights. Definitely the two best games I’ll see all year

  • Albion Wildcat Fan

Albion is in west michigan, why would they not be on this list ? Albion is one of the top class C teams in the state. And they play class B and class A school. I really think someone needs to look into this. I think albion really needs a good look at, just watch them in the holiday tourney in battle creek on Dec. 28th, 29th.

Hrmmm, I kinda think of Albion as Mid-Michigan, actually. Are you suggesting we adopt you? Shoot, the more the merrier, I always say!

  • Albion Wildcat Fan

Sure ryan, that sounds great ! Albion is a real good looking team this year with a few exchange students that are really good players, a 3 point shooter and a rebounder ! Just keep your eye on them this year. And thanx for the invite :)

Hey Pacers4500, don’t get too confident that WM Christian will beat Musk Heights…especially since Heights knocked off Rockford in Rockford just last night (Dec. 12 game). But the season is early…we’ll see how things go!
