West Michigan Allstar Week-9 Football Rankings

Football LogoThe artist still known as AGF, West Michigan Allstar’s resident high school football super-expert (don’t lie, you wish you had one of those too), has ranked the Top-5 football teams in each division below after their week-8 games.  There were multiple shockers in week-8, particularly in division-2, but since AGF has his thumb on the pulse of high school football, this list collectively may be accurately interpreted as an authoritative list of the top high school football teams in Michigan.  Unless you disagree.  In which case feel free to hit ‘caps-lock’ and yell at him in the comments.

Wonder if you realize that Ithaca, No. 5 in Division 6, was thumped pretty well by St. Charles on Friday. St.Charles runs a single wing and Ithaca couldn’t stop them. Ithaca has a nice passing game but St. Charles’ defense broke up key passes. The score was 42-28. In that league, Tri-Valley West, there are three good teams, these two and Carrollton. All have 7-1 records losing to each other: Carrolton beat St. Charles and Ithaca beat Carrolton. So, for what it’s worth, this is the situation.

Didn’t Adams and Canton Just Lose?

  • AGF

Yeah, I’m familair with the TVC situation. Ithaca whooped Carrollton pretty good and the game was never close.

Then Carrollton did the same to St Charles.

The St Charles/Ithaca game was atleast close for a while. It does make me question the Ithaca Defense a bit and thats why they moved down in the rankings…

With Nouvel likely out of the picture, It might just come down to a St Charles Ithaca rematch in the playoff’s. Even after the loss… I’m still leaning towards Ithaca being the better team but they had better tighten up that D if they hope to make some noise in the playoff’s. Seems odd that Ihaca could shut down Carrolltons run game (wing t) but couldnt shut down St Charles (single wing).

D2 is a tough one to figure out right now.

There are no undefeated teams in D2. And by my count seventeen teams on the playoff “bubble”.

D2 could very well end up being won by a team with two or three losses.

D6, the winner of st. charles and montague week 4, wins the championship over clinton.

D7 is Tough Tough Tough, Defense wins championships, Mendon over TCSF.

D8 MCC rolls into week 4 and loses to New Lothrop (ok its a homer pick) New Lothrop plays to their potential and wins D8 over Johannesburg-Lewiston

Ballsy picks, those. Mendon over TCSF? New Lothrop over MCC? We better see you back on these boards in a couple weeks, either head high or tail between legs…

Are you kidding me – Mendon is not in division 8, they are in division 7 – Muskegon Cath. has 4 losses and you have Climax behind these 2 – are you crazy. Have you seen Climax play this year. They are the most team oriented group of guys that I have ever seen in high school athletics and they have not been beaten yet and have not had a close game as of yet.

Wow. Maybe check out the date on the post before you go on a rant. This is from over a week ago, back when it appeared Mendon would be in D-8.
