Football LogoLetter from the editor: In celebration of the upcoming football season, WMAS is welcoming a guest writer to the mix.  Some of you may remember AGF from his work on Searn’s board and MLive.com’s forums, on which he demonstrated the impressive breadth and depth of his high school football knowledge.  AGF will be bringing a level of expertise about the sport that is dare-I-say unmatched in West Michigan.  Just ask him!
AGF has ranked the Top-5 football teams in each division below, which collectively may be accurately interpreted as an authoritative list of the top high school football teams in Michigan.  Unless you disagree.  In which case feel free to hit ‘caps-lock’ and yell at him in the comments.

      As far as Ithaca is concerend, ever hear of Alex Niznack? Ithaca’s 6’3 220 lb dual threat QB? It’s a long shot, but again these are pre-season. I tried to find some teams that maybe everyone wasn’t aware of. We’ll see…

    Clark is a load of crap. Ithaca will very good this year. They have a new QB who is very good and a lot of speed and talent at the skill positions. They are young, but they will be tough!

    Where are the Thumb teams?

    Div 6: Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port returns a lot from last year and are easily a pre season favorite versus Nouvel or Ithaca.

    Div 7: Ubly was there last year and with better then half of last years starters returning this year will be in the mix again.

    Div 8: Deckerville is primed to go a long way. MPSH? forget it. Eagles will eat those guys for lunch!
